SUPPORTING SOMEONE YOU KNOW WHO IS STRUGGLING

HOW TO SUPPORT SOMEONE YOU KNOW WHO IS STRUGGLING

  • Be patient and understanding with them

  • Offer to help with any tasks if they struggle to find motivation

  • DO NOT attempt to diagnose them

  • Always be there to listen and offer advice when you can

  • Check in on them regularly

  • Spend time with them but give them space if they need it

  • Remind them how much they mean to you

  • Educate yourself on their illness and inform yourself of any potential triggers, symptoms and behaviours

  • Most importantly, if you are seriously concerned about their wellbeing or if they are showing any signs of being at serious risk to themselves or anyone around them, speak to an adult immediately
